Training BIG is a novel standardized exercise approach that is based upon the fundamental treatment principles of
LSVT/LOUD®. Thus, the principles for BIG are founded in an efficacious treatment for the speech motor system and
that have now been successfully applied to the limb motor system. Data document that Training BIG results in
improvements in amplitude (trunk rotation/gait), speed (upper/lower limbs), balance, and quality of life. It can be
delivered by a physical or occupational therapist. Therapy lasts 4 weeks; treatment is individual 1:1 therapy; 4X/week
for 1-hour. The protocol was developed specifically to address the unique movement impairments for people with
Parkinson's. The protocol is both intensive and complex, with many repetitions of core movements that are used in daily
living. This type of practice is necessary to optimize learning and carryover of your better movement into everyday
life! You will learn to recognize how to Think BIG and recognize "normal bigness". You will learn to self-correct your
movements so that everyday life is continuous exercise.
We look forward to hearing from you and continuing to make this therapy accessible to everyone. |
